MISSION AND GOALS
UTS Sustainability (UTS-S) research is undertaken by a multi-disciplinary research team with two core interacting focus areas: sustainable environments and sustainable futures. Two institutes lead the focus areas: IWERM - the Institute for Water and Environmental Resource Management and ISF - the Institute for Sustainable Futures.
The mission of UTS-S is to catalyse change towards sustainable futures.
Objectives are to:
- undertake quality research & research training
- optimise relevance of research outcomes
- develop & maintain partnerships with government, industry & community
- foster public debate
- build a sustainable workplace
Practice-led research
As population and industry pressures on water and environmental resources increase in Australia, sustainable management of these resources becomes increasingly important. IWERM plays a prominent role in providing advice and undertaking timely, practical, applicable research to enhance our ability to manage water and environmental resources sustainability.
